- December 6
Howard's skills with repair of intricate mechanisms were called upon to fix this grabber which someone left in the clubroom, but he said it wasn't worth the trouble.
A touch screen for use with our new Raspberry Pi hardware.
We have declared Rebecca's bicycle capable of sustained flight.
Unfortunately, a window became broken during the elevation process.
A temporary patch was installed.
In upper level news, the truss bridge is temporarily in place, with a plastic panel protecting it
against carelessly swung elbows.
Also, digital servos are replacing the analog ones, which have proved not to be satisfactory for railroad use.
Dillon went out to a train show, and purchased two sets of cars to make two identical trains.
The idea is that we'll send one set (really, physically) to our friends at Texas Tech, and then we can have operating sessions where we'll "send" the cars back and forth by putting one version into staging here, and taking the other out, there.
And vice versa. It's really all very simple.
More upper level stuff--shims to equalize roadbed levels at the transition from flex track to handlaid.
- December 9
Dillon put in a steel L-girder to contain the plywood pile. Maybe it will encourage us
to keep the amount of stuff reasonable!
And he has moved on to Smoke Generator Mark III.
With a little bottle of magic fluid, to be placed in a silo(??) at Saurian Skin Care
For a little thing, it produces a lot of output.
Alex worked on a railcar set.
And on the upper level, anti-plunge barriers give trains a safer journey. See the report for September 13.
- December 31
In the last hour of 2014, John P got the top-of-helix interlocking working, and trains ran through it.
Loco 1803 and boxcar 124506 made it this far out. And are somewhat in danger owing to lack of anti-plunge protection in this area.
This is the electronic board that makes it possible.
Dillon, who is alas soon to depart, worked on "Nemo's Cryofoods" cold storage.
A package came all the way from China for one of Alex's projects.
It being New Year's Eve, John M went home saying "I should be off before the roads get dangerous". After
he left, there was an accident on Mass Ave outside. It isn't clear who did what to whom.
